Join us for a Remarkable Journeys presentation by John Smithies.

In August 1980, a wide-eyed young man from England arrived at JFK airport, NYC. Until that moment, his only experience of international travel had been in France, Spain and bits of Scotland. Beyond the airport perimeter fifty states awaited his footsteps.

Forty-seven states later, John Smithies has spent a lot of time at the Napa Library Memory Lab, digitizing all his photo slides from 1980 to 2001. Follow his journey from the east to the west coast, through the south and the Midwest, capturing magnificent landscapes, skyscraper cities, American culture, and a wonderful life.
